The 2023 Chevrolet Silverado 4500 Chassis Cab comes with a 6.6-liter Duramax brand turbo-diesel V-8 engine providing 350 horsepower and 700 pound-feet of torque. As a result of this build, it is capable of carrying a maximum payload of 15,940 pounds. It has a maximum gross vehicle weight rating of 23,500 pounds and a maximum gross combined weight rating of 37,000 pounds.

Gross vehicle weight rating represents the max weight the vehicle can handle safely. It includes the towing and payload capacity. Gross combined weight rating represents the max weight the vehicle can handle safely when calculated from a combination of the towing capacity, payload capacity, and passenger weight capacity combined.

It comes equipped with a 6-speed automatic Allison transmission and a 40-gallon fuel tank that can be augmented with another 25-gallon fuel tank. The alternator is 150-amp but can be upgraded to or combined with a 220-amp alternator. The standard battery setup involves a pair of heavy-duty batteries with 1,100 cold-cranking amps.

Two battery setup upgrades are available. The first is a dual heavy battery arrangement with 1,300 cold-cranking amps. The second is a heavy-duty triple battery setup with a grand total of 2,250 cold-cranking amps. A trailer brake controller is standard equipment, as is the exhaust brake and the neutral-at-stop gear shift programming. The 2023 4500 comes with StabiliTrak electronic stability and traction control with trailer sway control and hill start assistance.

A Wide Range of Body and Drivetrain Possibilities

Ten wheelbase options are available for the 2023 Chevrolet Silverado 4500 Chassis Cab truck. Its available model configurations stand in place of the usual trim levels. They are the Regular Cab 2WD/4WD 1WT, the Crew Cab 2WD/4WD 1WT, the Regular Cab 2WD/4WD 1LT, and the Crew Cab 2WD/4WD 1LT. The WD designations mean that each one is available in two-wheel drive and four-wheel drive. The 1WT designation means that the vehicle is part of the work truck equipment group.

The 1LT designation means that the vehicle is part of the load truck equipment group. Work trucks are those with the mounted rear box setup, which contain a vast array of compartments for all sorts of purposes. The Silverado 4500s with the load truck back end gain a large, heavily reinforced steel truck bed. The standard wheels are 19.5-inch versions.

Suspension System and Utility Features

The best available suspension system on this powerful chassis cab pickup truck is incredibly smooth, thanks to its Air-Ride configuration and LiquidSpring technology. That upgrade is more than worth getting since it is especially good at balancing things out in spite of heavy cargo and tow loads. Cruise control is a standard feature, as are the tilting steering column, auxiliary switches, cargo area lamp, assist steps, driver information center, and single-zone climate control system.

Optional utility features include a 110-volt power outlet, a 10-way power-adjustable driver’s seat, a set of recovery hooks, extended side mirrors, a Wi-Fi hotspot, Bluetooth, and heated front seats. The available infotainment system has an eight-inch diagonal touch-screen. A power take-off system and a high-idle switch are also available.

Safety and Security Features

Standard safety and security features include a set of six airbags on the chassis cab and a set of eight on the crew cab, power locks and windows, daytime running lights, a rear-view camera, and halogen projector headlights. Available security and safety options include a rear window defogger, a limited-slip axle, heated exterior mirrors, a backup alarm system, and an automatic, heavy-duty locking rear differential system.

That last feature is extremely helpful when hauling heavy loads. If for any reason one of the rear tires starts to slip or spin compared to the other, the system will lock them into synchronicity, increasing traction and torque where required.

Occupant Capacity and Measurements

The regular chassis cab seats up to three, while the crew version seats up to six. The measurement from the front of the vehicle to the back of the chassis cab is 115.5 inches, the standard wheelbase is 84 inches wide, and the full length of the truck measures 243 inches.

The crew cab measures 149.5 inches from the front to the back of the cab, the standard wheelbase is 84 inches wide, and the full length of the truck measures 344.2 inches. The bed on the regular chassis cab measures 162 inches long, while the one for the crew version measures 120 inches long. Both are 82.5 to 86.4 inches tall, depending on the cab configuration.

Commercial Vehicles are Good for Business

There are many benefits to having a commercial vehicle or fleet of commercial vehicles for your business. You can write off quite a lot on business taxes related to these vehicles and their regular use through the Section 179 deduction. They are capable of carrying and towing amounts of cargo far beyond the capabilities of non-commercial civilian trucks. The suspension and traction systems are top-notch, fitting for such a potent work truck.

Available Paint Color and Upholstery Options

All versions of the 2023 Chevrolet Silverado 4500 Chassis Cab truck are available in the following exterior paint colors: Black, Deep Ocean Blue Metallic, Greenstone Metallic, Northsky Blue Metallic, Oxford Brown Metallic, Red Hot, Shadow Grey Metallic, Silver Ice Metallic, and Summit White.
